Private Houses

Buschow Henley’s work with private houses engages in an exploration of ideas about living at an intimate scale. Issues of light penetration deep into the building, offering true flexibility in use, and dissolving barriers between inside and outside are investigated for use in larger projects.

The practice has designed apartments, loft interiors and one-off houses. A house completed for a young couple in a conservation area in Tollesbury in Essex was short-listed for an RIBA Award for Architecture in 2001. The Barge Murphy apartment, one of the 50 units in our mixed-use development 10-22 Shepherdess Walk, was featured in the Architectural Review also in 2001. The recently completed penthouses at 16 Hoxton Square have created considerable media interest in, amongst others, The London Evening Standard. The Church Walk Houses, currently on site, are expected to be completed shortly.
